This relates to leadership because It shows how Mao Zedong had great traits to be a leader which allowed him to easily become a big part of the Chinese Communist Party. Additionally, with war between the Communists and the Nationalists in the background Mao built his own private army that could defend against the kuomintang attempts to destroy the communists ("Mao Zedong: Hero and Villain."). Another Example of how Mao helped overthrow the KMT is when Chiang Shak sent one million soldiers to the communist base. During the years 1959-1961 the total amount of deaths reached 30-40 million (Mao Zedong: Hero and Villain;Edwards). Mao’s legacy is represented in this because his actions as leader caused millions upon millions to die. Finally, after his tragic mistake with the Great Leap Forward Mao was striped of his title of ruler of china. although, he was no longer leader of China he was still leader of the Communist Party.
