It is better for an artist to be an expert at one medium or proficient with many media.

An artist that is an expert at one form of media creates a platform for him/herself or when it is easier to express ideas and be fluent with visual aspects of the artwork. If an artist does not have the enough knowledge and experience accumulated in all kinds of life practice at his area, he will be lack of the raw material for artistic creation, and cannot create a real work of art. Therefore, the artists need accumulate and enrich the life experience in the process of practice, which is the foundation of all the artists' creation.

He was the man who impressed me most because he influenced many people and keep his own style such as signed in the urinal as his work “Fountain”. Just as our book says, “The real achievement of the artist is seen to reside in the creation of ideas. A successful artwork will prompt new ways of thinking… ” (87) Moreover, his works are always unique, bold, and full of fantasy. He uses tin, wire, paint, powder, other unconventional materials and new techniques to create his artwork. He also uses bicycle wheel, spade, comb and other products to finished his sculpture, and even made the product directly into a work.What I admire most about him is Duchamp refused to be an artist, not only he did not make any opinions, but he avoids the great events of the art area. However, the art has been taken by him alone in a new direction. In the website Widewalls, it saids “Herbert Bayer can be credited as the father of Bauhaus typography for his design of the Universal Alphabet created in 1925. Bayer proposed the principles of the new typography that sought to reduce letters to their essentials, without additional adornments typical for the blackletter typography.” Although at that time, for his reform of the font, people do not understand and there are strong opposition whether the college or community, he still try to let people abandon the form of the Middle Ages, and turn to the new form that is more appropriate for the present, and more predictable for the future. That make Bayer formed the part of postmodernism and play a significant role of design at the beginning of 21th century.

An artist who has had more experience with one media can utilize it to its greatest extent to express ideas by the way it is poor to use.
