The story is set on a college campus. It’s November; close to Thanksgiving break. The story will be told from two points of view — Marceline and Sterling. Marceline is a junior; she’s a meek and apologetic introvert. Sterling is a transfer student and he has similar character traits. However, he isn’t meek. The story begins when Marceline is heading back to her dorm. Her mind wanders, thinking about seeing her family on Thanksgiving. Sterling purposely bumps into her. She says sorry. He tries to comfort her. He reaches into her jacket pocket to get her wallet. He says it’s okay, slipping the wallet in his pocket before leaving. Marceline doesn’t realize her wallet is gone. Marceline enters her dorm, overthinking the situation. After setting her bag down, she reaches into her jacket pocket. When her wallet isn’t there, she nearly screams. She blames herself for her stupidity when she should 've been on high alert. With that thief stealing her stuff for weeks, she should’ve paid more attention. Marceline plops on her bed. Her stuff usually returns the next day; she decides to wait. When her wallet doesn’t appear, Marceline freaks out, wanting help. However, when Sterling first stole something, the campus police didn’t start an investigation before he returned it. She thinks about looking for the thief, but it’s late. She waits until the next day to search. She traces her steps of that day. As the sun sets, she gives up. She sees a person in the distance. Sterling has his hands in his jacket pockets. He pulls out her wallet, waving it around. She walks towards him and he walks away. Marceline follows him, but he disappears. He ends up following her. He thinks about how bad she is at this game. He taunts her, waving the wallet around. Marceline glares at him, wanting to reach for it, but knows her attempts would be fruitless. She asks why he keeps stealing from her. He jumps over the bench, landing in front of her. She backs away and he grabs her wrist. Sterling asks her, what’s wrong, putting the wallet in his pocket. She tries to escape his grip. She asks why is he doing this. Sterling is confused. He grabs onto her bicep. She whimpers, looking around for help. He repeats his question, taking out his switchblade. She gasps, trying to scream. Why are you afraid of me, he asks with a genuine look of confusion. Because I don’t know you, she says. He grabs her chin, making her face him. He stares into her eyes and notices the fear in them. He realizes he has mistaken her for someone else. Their features looked similar. He releases her chin, laughing to himself. He apologizes for his mistake, returning her wallet back. As he leaves, Marceline reaches out to grab him but falls
