College Essay Topic C Throughout high school, I have been involved in many different organizations that have made a huge impact in my life. Out of all of them, I can say that two of those have not only impacted my life but have made me a better student and an all-around hardworking person. Both swimming and band has taught me that no matter what you do in life, as long as you believe and work hard, you will get through anything that life throws at you.
Joining my high school’s marching band is probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Over the past six years, I have become very passionate about music to where I have made it my biggest goal to become a high school band director. Participating in marching band every year, I learned how to teach marching fundamentals to students. I have also participated in concert band in which I learned how to teach students to play with beautiful tones and phrases like a professional musician. This organization has taught me to never give up and to push beyond my limits to be successful. Having gone from just a team member to a swim team captain has shown me that although pushing your limits can cause you to break, in the end it will be worth it. I have put many summer hours and long days of practicing just to be the best. With that being said, swimming is not only a sport but a way of life. If you work hard at something and put in those extra hours, you will be successful. I know that once you graduate from high school, reality hits you hard. College is a whole different ball game and if you don’t work hard or put those extra hours then you will fall behind and it will only get harder.
