Since I've read this new book I imagine myself as a queen in a huge castle with lots of expensive gold and diamonds but that's the opposite for mare Borrow the main character in my book Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Mare is a 18 and lives in a small village with her mother, sister and her father who was previously in the war and her brother Shade is currently in the war and it's almost her turn. “What is it ? Whats wrong? Without thinking I take his hand in mine feeling the blood beneath my fingers. What happened he takes a moment to respond working himself up” “ Now I'm terrified my master he fell . He died I'm not an apprentice anymore” I try to hold in a gasp but it echos anyway,taunting us even though he doesn't have to I don't know what he's trying to say he continues” “I hadn't even finished training and now” - “he trips over his words” “I'm 18 the other fisherman have apprentices I'm not working I can't get work the” “next words are like a knife in …show more content…
Mare lives in a small town and money is low in her family so she pickpockets in the village market “ I’ve done this a thousand times watching watching the crowed like a wolf does a flock of sheep ( Aveyard 33 ) It's easy to pickpocket for Mare but it's hard to not get caught by guards.This is an important passage because this is what happens in most of the beginning of the story before she goes to war.
Mare hears a loud knock at the door and sees that there are security guards at the door and thinks that it's a security search but things actually takes a turn for the worst .The door bursts open there's two guards and a royal servant “ Mare Borrow you have been summoned to summertown” ( Aveyard 51 ) Mare has to go into war now and has nothing to give her family to remember her by.This is an important part of the story because she's being sent to war and when you get deeper in the story it turns out going to war isn't so
