“I am not a bully today; But, I used to be a bully.” Margo Boxer Looking back at her middle school years, Margo Boxer, now a junior at SHS, is filled with feelings of shame and regret. Throughout her years in middle school, Margo emotionally and relationally bullied others due to her own insecurities and immaturity. Her peers encouraged it and her parents were lenient, but deep down Margo knew that what she was doing was wrong. It was only when Margo experienced being bullied herself that she had a wakeup call and knew it was time to change her ways. Ever since she can remember, Margo was always the smallest person in the room. At first, this did not bother her, but with age, it increasingly became a problem. Her parents began taking her to Doctors who specialized in growth hormones, and boys started pointing out to her how she was “too small”. Due to this, Margo became extremely insecure of her height and felt intimidated by others. Since she was unable to control her size, she realized she was able to control people’s perception of herself. She would purposefully exclude girls she felt threatened by and tell lies that she knew would upset them. Margo recalls one time, after getting their house results for Middle School, lying to Sammy, who was placed in Fountain House with her, that another girl in Fountain was having a pool party but Natalie would not be invited because she was not popular enough. “It’s almost like a power complex; Seeing someone inferior to you feeling worse about themselves can make you feel better about yourself...in a really messed up way,” Margo
