“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”- once said Marilyn Monroe. From going to foster home to foster home, to becoming one of the worlds biggest stars. Marilyn Monroe is one of America’s biggest icons. She had a detrementing childhood, multiple relationships all of which ended on a negative note, to the ups and downs of her career, to when it all had to end. Monroe is a role model to many. She started out as a model and then went into acting. Monroe showed us that she could overcome obstacles but yet come back stronger from them. Monroe’s birth name is Norma Jean Baker, born in Los Angeles, California. Monroe experienced a disrupted loveless childhood that included two years in an orphanage. Her mother Gladys (Monroe) Baker Mortenson was hospitalized after being diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. Marilyn was left in a series of foster homes and the Los Angeles Orphans Home Society. Monroe had so much potential and had a great life. It's sad to say it had to end so soon. Late at night August 5, 1962, Monroe’s housekeeper Eunice Murray was staying overnight.(“Marilyn Monroe”) She woke at 3:00 in the morning and sensed something was wrong. The light was on in Monroe’s room but the door was locked. Murray was unable to get a response from Monroe. Murray then called Monroe’s psychiatrist Dr. Ralph Green. Dr. Green arrived and broke into Monroe’s bedroom. They found Monroe dead with an empty bottle of pills by her side. At 4:25 A.M the notified the Los Angeles PD. It was estimated that Monroe died between 8:30 and 10:30 P.M on August 5, 1962. A report later revealed that she died of acute barbiturate poisoning. This kind of poisoning can be from overdosing on the pills found next to her on the bed. The dosages in her body were several times over the legal limit. They classified her death as probable
