Biography
Known as one of the biggest sex symbols in the past 100 years, Marilyn Monroe made a timeless impact on the world in her short life span. Born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California, her life basically started out with obstacles, from her father leaving, to her mother being institutionalized, to being in and out of 11 different orphanages and foster homes. She was a very successful model and actress who was featured on the cover of the Playboy magazine, acted in almost 30 films, and even sang to the president on his birthday in front of thousands of people. At the age of 36 she was found dead in her Los Angeles home on August 5, 1962.
Her birth name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, daughter of Gladys Pearl Monroe Baker Mortensen. Neither Norma or her mother knew who her real father was. For a period of time in her life, Norma believed her father was actor Clark Gable. She never did find out her who true father was though.
