Marjane Satrapi is a 10-year-old girl living in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. Marjane, her parents and the rest of the country go through a dramatic change as the government and the people around them start to alter their everyday lives. In Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel Persepolis, the author explores Marjane’s development from an innocent young girl to a rebellious teenager, in order to illustrate Marjane’s change as an effect of the negative religious changes during the revolution.
