At the front door of an apartment building at 430 Turk Street San Francisco, California on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, a man was arrested after body parts were found in his suitcase. The man was identified as a 59 year old male named Mark Andrus. Andrus has lived in Tenderloin for about 5 years. His neighbors call him "Nice Guy". In the 80s and 90s Andrus was arrested for several things. Some of the things were suspected drug possession, theft, burglary, and jumping bail. The people of his community now called him "The Suitcase Murderer". Andrus did not have an apartment of his own; He lived with a friend at a public housing complex. Both suspects were taken to Hall of Justice for questioning. Andrus was arrested due to suspicion of murder and was booked into a county jail Saturday morning. Andrus did not confess to the murder. Mark Keever was later revealed as the other person detained. Keever told police that he was sure Andrus did not commit the crime. Police contacted his family and close friends to understand what may have led him to murdering someone if he did commit the crime. His sister-in-law said she and her husband haven't heard from Andrus in 20 years. One of his neighbors said he was not a murder yet he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. During the interview, Keever said he was frightened when police showed up at his door. He stated that he and Andrus were watching a movie on the Syfy channel when he heard a loud knock at the door in which startled them. The police said they had video evidence of him rolling the suitcase of dismembered body parts. It was found 2 blocks from where it was discovered. The suitcase and other scattered body parts were found along the trash bins near Goodwill on 8611th Street. The head, lower arms and hands of the victim are missing.
