Amy B. Wang and Kristine Phillips question the choices the Weirton Police Department in West Virginia made on the career of Stephen Mader, who recently lost his job after he hesitates to shoot, in their article, “‘Just shoot me,’ an armed man told a cop. The officer didn’t and was fired, his lawsuit claimed.” On May 6, 2016, Stephen Mader received a domestic dispute call, and “once on the scene, he encountered a “visibly distraught” man named Ronald J. Williams.” ( Mader tries to convince the man to lower his gun, but Williams refuses; therefore, when Williams raised his gun, another officer killed him. A month later, Mader was fired for not following the police department 's procedures.

The police recovered a rifle from his residence. Because of his previous history of misdemeanor assault conviction, he was charged with violating a federal statute that makes it a crime for a person with such a history to possess a firearm. A similar case befell William Armstrong III. He was convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence in Maine’s state twice, in 2002 and 2008 (Oyez, n.d.).
In today’s modern society, many feel that is okay for a police officer can kill a man armed with a harmful weapon at any cost. On many news channels, there are various amounts of articles and reports about a police officer committing this act. Even though a police officer has the right to take action against an armed man, this could be argued in many circumstances. In the 2013, Sammy Yatim was a young adult with a mental illness and was armed with a weapon on a streetcar in Toronto. Yatim was confronted by Const.
Matonabbee was born in 1737 at Fort Prince of Wales with his parents. After his father died, Richard Norton, the chief factor, decided to take care of him. However, after a while, a new factor was appointed and he did not take any care of Matonabbee so his family took him away and he spent 11 years at a Chipewyan village. There he learned the rituals and techniques of the Chipewyan tribe. After the 11 years, he went back to the Prince of Wales’s fort and because of the time he spent with his people, it provided him with an opportunity to learn the Cree language, and the years among his own people gave him a knowledge of the land and how to live on it.
This article has great viewpoints, use of argumentative reasoning, and shows what truly happens in the hallways of a school shooting. The main person he explains is Eric Harris, who killed over two-thousand students and faculty in a Colorado high school in 1998. He set off bombs all over the school and used a semi-automatic
“A monday shooting at a Los Angeles police station was stopped in seconds by an officer carrying a weapon.” (stockman 6). Rifles have been a key tool in law enforcement for years upon years. “The spree ended when the killer was confronted by a military police officer with a weapon.” (stockman 3).
Sunday, November 5th, of this year, 26 people were killed and 20 more were injured when a man opened fire inside a Texas church. The reason this case is intriguing is because of how the gunman was stopped. Stephen Willeford, living nearby, heard the shots, and rushed outside with his rifle, exchanging fire with the gunman. He then got into a car with another stranger, and the two raced after the gunman in a high-speed chase.
“[T]he world was never to be the same again.” (Stein 27) The dropping of the atom bomb on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a monumental event that changed the course of human history. The atom bomb was built and developed to help end World War II and it did accomplish that goal by causing the surrender of the Japanese. (Editors of Encyclopaedia par.7)

The main topic of this paper has to do with whether police shootings are justified or not and it has to do with all the statistics of their shootings. Another point of this paper is talking about the details of when the officers shoot and what happens then. Surprisingly police officers do not hit their target a majority of the time. As a matter of fact police officers usually only hit an assailant twenty-five percent of the time. My opinion is that police officers more than not, are correct in whether or not they are when they shoot if it is justifiable or not.
On May 7, 1931, the most sensational manhunt New York City had ever known had come to its climax. After weeks of search, “Two Gun” Crowley - the killer, the gunman who didn’t smoke or drink - was at bay, trapped in his sweetheart’s apartment on West End Avenue. One hundred and fifty policemen and detectives laid siege to his top-floor hideway. They chopped holes in the roof; they tried to smoke out Crowley, the “cop killer,” with teargas. Then they mounted their machine guns on surrounding buildings, and for more than an hour one of New York’s fine residential areas reverberated with the crack of pistol fire and the rut-tat-tat of machine guns.
