Tennessee country merchant. Twain lived in Hannibal up until the age of 17 years old, then left town. Twain wife who he married was Olivia Louise , they married in Elmira, NY on February 2,
1870. While being together they had four children, their names were Landon, Susan, Clara, and
Jean, their child Langdon died infancy. Twain wrote twenty eight books that are short stories and long stories depending on one’s distinction. Two of his stories are: Life on the Mississippi and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The story Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a short story of American works of art , one of the best sold as it’s initial appearance , the book was banished from the shelves in 1885 of the concord library. Some schools and school systems across the country bans it from their classrooms . The short story Huck Finn took years to get it together and to write so twain put it aside and pursued with the 1881 publication: The Prince and the pauper. Twain short stories: Life on the Mississippi, The adventures of Tom Sawyer and, The adventures of Huckleberry finn are often considered one of his greatest short stories.

Working on the riverboats gave twain the pen name Mark twain.. it influenced him to write more stories and what to write about. Twain articles and stories and memories gave him his fame , his books sold door to door and it made him wealthy enough to build his house that he shared with his wife Olivia. He started to write Huckleberry finn to capitalize on the popularity of his earlier novels, he soon put the book aside because of the time he was writing it, it did not fit the Gilded age during that time. Twain personal life had interfered” His wife had long been sickly, and the couple lost their first son after just nineteen months”(spark. Notes).
After that occurred Twain started back working on his book: Huckleberry finn and he finished the draft of the book in 1883. Twain continued to write after that for the next ten years and he published two other popular novels in 1889 and 1894. Twain still had his personal problems being that his wife and two daughters had passed away but despite what was going on with him Twain continued to enjoy his fame and continued to demand in a public speaker until his death in 1910. The death of Twain does not end the fame with his novel: Huckleberry
