Mark Twain is one of the most influential writers in America. He was extremely significant writer because people enjoyed reading the classic American accent and the humorous feelings that people receive when they read his literature. This man was famous for his attitude and positivity. “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” His memoirs and ideas were well understood and beloved. He was always seen as a striking character and very folksy with great anecdotes. Mark Twain is one of the most famous authors with an interesting younger life and career. Before Mark Twain was Mark Twain his name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens. Samuel was a typical American boy born on November 30th, 1835. He was born on the homestead in Florida, Missouri. When he was a very young child in Florida Missouri he was constantly sick and lived a tough childhood. His family was very poor and suffered from financial difficulties. Orion had gotten a new job as secretary governor of the Nevada Territory. Sam decided he’d be Orion’s personal secretary. He didn’t have a lot of work for Sam so Sam decided to move to the Sierra Nevada to search for Silver for a while. Sam did go broke trying to become rich fast. One day, Joseph Goodman, the editor of the Territorial Enterprise, offered him $25 a week to join his staff. Sam didn’t have enough money to get a horse so he waked 130 miles from his mining camp in Virginia City. In 1862 Sam had finally made it to the editors office and began his career. Six months after working at the Territorial Enterprise, Sam signed a funny travel article with the name Mark Twain. The name stuck and people began to call him Mark.
