Marketing EDGE Collegiate Summit Case Study

I am applying for the Marketing EDGE Collegiate Summit because I cannot even begin to explain how much of a passion I have for the marketing industry. It was in high school when I developed this interest for the marketing field. Of course, it was not until I came to UC Santa Cruz when I really started to do research on the various aspects that marketing encapsulates. Even though my university does not offer a marketing program, I have taken many actions to pursue marketing opportunities that will increase my knowledge about the field. I am currently majoring in Business Management Economics where there is only one marketing course offered in the school. I have acquired many different positions throughout my career that will allow me to bring my own unique perspective to the Marketing EDGE Collegiate Summit, such as acquiring the positions of Marketing Coordinator for UC Santa Cruz Athletics, Marketing Outreach/ Coordinator for Black Men's Alliance, Junior Marketing Assistant for University Relations, and this summer I will be working with Colgate-Palmolive as a Commercial Sales and Marketing Intern. Now you may be asking yourself: Why does this non-marketing major have such an interest in marketing? Well to put it simply: Marketing is beautiful analytically driven art. I have analyzed how marketing has been used in the past in, and after all of these educational courses and opportunities, I am starting to see how amazing marketing truly is.
