Imagine having to survive through the ice age with your family, and having to venture alone to survive. Maroo of the Winter Caves by Ann Turnbull is a suspenseful story about Maroo and her family, struggling to survive in the cold winter seasons of the ice age. Maroo was forced to mature and adapt as problems arose through the winter, struggling to survive and making Maroo make tough decisions.
In the beginning of the novel Maroo still acts childish. One example of this is Maroo is going to the other site and it states her first thought is for her treasures, ‘Her first thought was for her treasures.’.
