Evan Edds Tolbert Lit survey and comprehension 28 February 2024 Title of Your Report Marsha P. Johnson was an aid and LGBTQ activist who fought hard for the people's rights. She had faced many trials and tribulations while trying to accomplish that, but worked hard to make the earth a better place for everyone. She went ahead to sell her body to anyone who would pay for it, just like now prostitution was and is very much illegal; she was also at the forefront of discrimination because she was black and gay. (Matt #) She still needed to survive so continued to be a sex worker but ended up being arrested multiple times for prostitution. But she continued to work hard and was eventually welcomed into the Stonewall Inn. She was allowed to stay if she waited tables and did drag shows, during drag shows people would hand her flowers which she put in her hair (Uzarowski #) which caught the attention of artist Andy Warhal (Matt #) asked to paint her, leading to the most known piece of art of her. Her name grew wide and far she started to become an activist for the aids epidemic trying to destigmatize it to people while also helping people who had it (Uzarowski #).
