Marshall Mathers is more famously known as Eminem and Slim Shady. He is known for being a white rapper in a predominantly black culture. Even though he did not do well in school, he can rhyme and write songs like no one else. At the time, and still today, rap music was nearly always produced by black people. Being said, Eminem with pale white skin and blue eyes, entered in rap “battles” in Detroit (Eminem, 2017). Eminem has such great skill that he earned the respect of Detroit's underground rap scene. Although Eminem is highly respected, he is also highly criticized for his profanity, violence, and glorification of drugs in his songs. Along with being a rapper, Eminem is known for his movie 8 Mile, which is roughly based on his own life. He has many awards and nominations in his career. The rapper is estimated at a net worth of 170 million dollars (Who is Eminem, 2017). He had a rough childhood, and been through addiction and recovery. One of his famous looks is the bleach blonde hair. This came from one night when he was high the drug ecstasy and went to a drugstore and purchased a bottle of peroxide (Kaufman, 2008,1). When he is not making music he is spending time with his own daughter and two adopted daughters.
