1.2 million people were in the square and almost a million died and thousands injured that horrible day. The whole world was watching that brutal day when the army went in the square and killed thousands. In 1989 Tiananmen square beijing people all over the city were protesting for freedom of speech and press. A line of tanks were coming in the square. A man ran in front of the tanks and stopped them. He took a stand against the army and the tanks. He was surely going to die. He caused other cities to protest all around the country. They made martial law because of the protests. Another person in the event was Wang dan, he was the student leader for all of the students. He was ordered to be killed after the massacre. A day after he died people made a documentary showing his life and all he did in the square. They were not going to stop until they got what they wanted. They tried many different ways like marching through streets and doing a hunger strike. People were rioting through the streets. Nothing worked. There were thousands injured. Many died that day.(Tiananmen Square). After it spread to other cities the decided to use force. The number of deaths was not exact, but it was in the thousands. When tank man left. A couple years after tank man people talked to the former leader of china and he doesn’t know if he was imprisoned, killed, or is still alive somewhere in the world. There were many effects by this. They have blocked all searches about tank man. Many people do not know what he did. Police could not find him after all this time. It is still a mystery about who he is. People were not allowed to take pictures of the event. Many people around the world is unaware of what he did. Police do not know if he is died or not. (Tiananmen Square).
