For a very long time, racism has existed as one of the “darkest corners” within a society. It is apparent that racism is a controversial issue which has been spent lots of time to protest again but it sure has not gone away. By using variety rhetorical techniques in the speech, Dr. King showed the audience how unequal the Negro was treated, and then appealed all Americans of all ages, genders, and races to change in action in order to protect the civil right of individual. Matin Luther King started his speech by showing how the Negro was treated after hundred years from the days the Emancipation Proclamation was announced. By using pathos, Dr.King touched the audience’s heart by exposing real images of the Negro’s live over a century.
