Heroes are ordinary people who find the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. They are the real heroes, and so are the families and friends who have stood by them. Maya Angelou stated, “I think a hero is any person really intent on making this world a better place for all people.”

Thesis Statement 40 years later to 2008 when on the eve the U.S. Presidential election; a newcomer, Democrat Barack Obama is going against establishment Republican John McCain. MLK’s stature is stronger than ever as he invokes memories of the current Democratic nominee. I intend to prove that the cataclysmic event of the MLK assassination sowed seeds that paved the way for the eventual election of the first African-American President. MLK was assassinated in 1968 nearly 40 years to the day of the 2008 Presidential election.

Despite his many arrests, King never gave up on the rights movement. At the age of twelve he suffered from depression and blamed himself of his grandmother’s death and jumped from a two-story window but he survived. Sometimes painful situations, for example, the death of his grandmother, will make you a stronger person in life and it will motivate you to try to change the world for the better.

Dr.King a Great Leader When you think of a good leader you think of someone who can influence and lead people. Good leaders do the right things for the people their leading and fight for whats right. Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. is a good leader because he fought for equal rights, he was a educated pastor, and he lead a movement that left behind a legacy that will be remembered forever. He played a very big role in ending segregation of African Americans in the U.S.(Biography, 2018).
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers fear”(Nelson Mandela). This means that a hero is someone that protects without thinking, even if they are afraid. They put aside their fears for the sake of others. Mandela believed that all people should be equal and he worked towards this goal facing fear even if it meant being punished.
Journal Three When the common men, or women, takes a step back and looks at history. They will notice that the people who are most vision able get the most credit. Yes, they often deserve the credit they are given. However, sometimes they are over praised.
