Martin Luther King was the leader of the civil rights movement in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and he was raised in a middle-class family. Martin followed his father and grandfather foot step and he pursued a theological education. His father was a minister at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. At fifteen years old Martin Luther King Jr. went to Moorehouse College and graduated from there in 1948. Martin Luther King Jr. married Corretta Scott in 1953 and they had four kids. In 1955, he completed his work at Boston Graduate School and got his PHD. He came up with so many quotes that are powerful and influential. Quotes like “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy” (Martin Luther King Jr). This quote gave the world an understanding of his purpose. Martin most famous speech was the “I Have a dream”. That speech was what he had hope for America would be in the future. “When we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last. Free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last” (Martin Luther King). He had a vision that one day race was not going to be an issues anymore and we all would be treated the same no matter what the color of our skin are. He helped change the world with his powerful words. His powerful words brought attention to the world so that blacks could be treated fairly. African-American were not able to go to the same places as whites, get certain jobs, drink from the same water fountain as whites, and even use the same restrooms as whites, but Martin Luther king helped change that. King helped bring new laws to the country so that we could live peacefully. Kings non-violent approach brought us African- American together to work and make a difference in the world. Martin stop the Montgomery Boycott bus, which was different bus companies discriminated against black people. African-Americans were forced to sit in the back or give up their seat to a white person. Without the help of Martin Luther King I would still had to sit in the back of the bus and also give my sit to a white person if I had do. King did not just influence race congregation, he influence the world to become better. Without Kings great help I do not know where African- Americans would be today and this why I admire him for everything he has done to make this world a better
