In Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s acceptance speech, it gives us messages to really think about. The messages King communicates in his speech are very important for us to remember and pass down. After sharing many experiences and gathering many ways for us to have peace, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. communicates these messages so we can spread them for us to follow and remember. King is trying to say that there are other ways to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to it. This is a good thing to remember, if you ever feel the need to be violent you can try to overcome it in another way. When you aren’t violent, it results in a good ending instead of possibly digging yourself inside a hole. King also communicates this message by. “Nonviolence is not sterile passivity, but a powerful moral force which makes for social transformation.” (page 2). Nonviolence leads to justice and is a more effective path to social change. If we all overcome violence, we can live in peace and not worry about it. A second message communicated in King’s speech is love will be spread and he gives us images of how we will all help each other and come together. Giving people an image of how the world would look like is a great way to communicate his message because people will actually think about it.
