What does being a hero mean? Anyone can be a hero, not all heroes wear capes. Many people may think you need superpowers to be a hero, but all you need is to be a good person. Superheroes are very cool, but there are many different heroes. Martin Luther King Jr is a great example of one. He fought for civil rights and equality for all people, regardless of the race they were. He inspired so many people! Even as an ordinary man, Martin Luther King Jr was always determined to make a difference to the world, I believe he is the best American hero of all time.

Martin Luther King Jr faced many challenges throughout his life. Some of the hardest obstacles were the violent opposition he faced when fighting for civil rights. He was arrested many times, his home was bombed, and he also was received numerous death threats. African Americans were disadvantaged from whites and had to listen to whatever they say” (New York Times).
