Martin Luther King went on to be a protest leader an official spokesman in the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and became a target for white supremacist who firebombed his family home. Martin Luther King along with other fellow ministers founded the SCLC, where they committed to achieving full equality for African-Americans through non-violent protest. Martin Luther King was the president of SCLC and travel across the country giving lectures on nonviolent protest and civil rights. When on to work with many civil rights and religious groups who organized the March on Washington for jobs and freedom. The March on Washington help make Martin Luther King's most famous address known as “I have a dream”. The “I Have a Dream” speech was one of the most inspirational addresses then and now, and today we still remember it. Martin Luther King was assassinated on April 4th,1968 by James Earl Ray. Although MLK Jr. died his legacy will forever live on and the members of Congress in 1983 signed a bill creating a US federal holiday in honor of King, in which we still celebrate today. Martin Luther King Jr. was a smart man when he was younger and an even smarter when he got older. King was an amazing man and stood of for what he believes in in a non-violent way, always his legacy will forever live
