As the door slams closed, and the feet of a great activist stomps towards the edge of the balcony, the click of a Remington 30-06 rifle is heard by a destined killer. As the sweat falls from the face of the assassinator, and the loud voice of a great leader grows louder, on final sound rings in the ears of all, then the leader’s voice lowers to silence. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up as the second of Martin Luther King Sr.’s children, Martin Luther King Jr. attended a segregated school throughout college. Martin Luther King Jr. was a popular child growing up. He entered college, age 15, after skipping the ninth and eleventh grade. As Martin Luther King Jr. grew older, he became very close to his grandmother, Jennie King. Jennie died of a heart attack, Martin Luther King Jr. was 12 years old. After his grandmother’s death, Martin Luther King Jr. allegedly tried to commit suicide, jumping out of a two-story family house. Martin Luther King Jr. became a religious person, becoming a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church of Montgomery, Alabama. However, he didn’t enjoy being religious at a young age, in fact, he questioned religion even though his family was really religious. James Earl Ray began planning to assassinate Martin Luther King Jr. and actually confessed to killing Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4th, 1968. Martin Luther King Jr.’s son, Dexter King, forgave James after he told the police, he murdered King Jr. However, during the 1970’s James suggested someone else killed King Jr, and during the 1990’s suggested the FBI, who didn’t like Martin Luther King Jr., had assassinated him.
