The world today is ravaged with disease and hatred. To be judged or reprimanded is natural, and society’s idea of perfection is impossible. This world is one of judgments. To find someone with pure intentions to do well is rare. However, history does offer a few. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?” This man devoted his entire life to bettering the lives of all people. This should be our legacy. We should be thinking on a global scale. In this age of technology and societal advancement it is extremely important to think farther than the confines of our own minds. She said that helping others is how I will achieve peace. Now that I’m older and have experienced more pain than you could imagine, I find joy in being the reason for someone else’s smile. I love to help others because it is so difficult to help myself. I am building my career around giving people a second chance. Life is full of darkness and pain, why not fill it with light and joy? The human race is naturally one of greed. It is in our instincts to survive, even if that means at the risk of others. We are a race of arrogance and ignorance. The things that we don’t know we don’t, or refuse to accept. I say ‘we’, meaning society. Society does not accept anything that does not conform.
