On August 23,1968 Martin Luther King gave his famous "I have a dream" speech at the Washington Monument to thousands of people. His main goal was to stop segregation and that all man and women of all races are created equally. When slavery was abolished, there was still hatred toward the black race. African Americans rights were limited, and they were treated poorly to a lot of white people. Martin Luther King Jr was a African American that hated the fact that people were being treated differently because of their color of there skin.
