Destroying the Manacles that Separated Us Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous speech is one that has been recognized and listened to by thousands, giving hope to so many who have been under the weight of oppression and segregation during the civil rights movement. This speech was in an attempt to fight for one common necessity; equality. It was a March for us to “live in a nation where [we] will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of [our] character” (16).
