Research Project Did you know Martin Luther was born in Born in Eisleben, Germany, in 1483? At first he was a monk and scholar, but in 1517 that all Changed. Luther wrote an “attack” document on the Catholic Church’s wrong practice of selling indulgences for the people to forgive their sins. Luther’s dad was a businessman, with that said, when Luther was just a small child his dad made his family of 10 move to Mansfeld. The door that these were posted on was a bulletin board. The board was mostly used for various announcements related to academic and church activities. The 95 theses were originally written in Latin and printed on a folio sheet by the printer John Gruenenberg. This is what most people think, but we have no evidence that thi is what happened. He didn’t walk through town with his theses, nails and a hammer. Though he had to have brought his theses with him, he wouldn't have had to bring his hammer or nails. So what really happened was he left his house without his hammer and went the caste church door.
