Exchanging information can provide efficiency in administrative tasks like appointment scheduling and billing, freeing up time to provide direct patient care. Large organizations have the ability to communicate with community clinics, critical access hospitals, providing better quality care coordination which can positively impact patient outcomes (Bouve Communications, 2023). In 2000 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released the report To Err is Human which has been acknowledged as the starting point for the current focus on high reliability and a culture of safety within healthcare (McGonigle & Mastrain, 2025). Medical errors can have a substantial impact on a patient?s well-being and are costly to healthcare organizations. Electronic medical records (EMRs) and medication bar cording are information management systems that have been put in place to decrease medication errors in hospitals (Richemond & Huggins-Jordan, 2023). This drives evidence-based research to continue to drive new strategies to make strides in patient care advancement and continue to drive high-quality interventions to improve patient outcomes. Influence of Information Management As information management systems and health-IT continue to advance at a rapid pace, there is ongoing evidence that is emerging to the significant impact on improving patient safety outcomes (Alotaibi & Federico, 2017). Remote patient monitoring is an example of information management systems that have positively impacted overall patient care (Alotaibi & Federico, 2017). Patient data management systems (PDMS) are used to retrieve data from medical equipment that is used to monitor patients and then is reconfigured to help healthcare practitioners in clinical decision making (Alotaibi & Federico, 2017). There has been evidence that has shown improved clinical outcomes for chronic disease management, which can be attributed to reduced readmission rates and enhanced access to healthcare services in under-served areas (Alotaibi & Federico, 2017). A secondary example of the impact of information management systems is automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) and bar coding
