I observed Stefani Poveromo on October 26th in the Marywood Clinic. The clinic contained a piano, a few chairs, tambourine, xylophone and a guitar. The main instrument that Stefani used was the guitar and piano. Stefani works with a boy named Dan; he has Autism and a bit of OCD. Stefani has a great connection with Dan and him with her making the session wonderful to watch. I can tell Dan loves music therapy just by his behavior through the session. They both have strong eye contact with each other as well.
Stefani started the session off with singing Hello. She sang to Dan then to herself. After she played Sweet Home Alabama. She played the first few versus of the song and Dan sang along to every word and played the tambourine. After she changed the words to make it Halloween themed. She had Dan pick different things about Halloween like a witch or ghost and they made up a song together. As they were singing the song Stefani would play soft and loud to see if Dan would follow along on the tambourine. Stefani then transitioned into Monster Mash. Her main goal throughout the session is to have Dan follow her with the rhythm changes. They both had great eye contact throughout.

Dan would sit beside Stefani and try to keep up and follow with what she was doing but he struggled. Mrs. Morrison said that Dan was never able to sing and play at the same time so for him to be able to do that has showed how much he has improved. After playing the piano Stefani switched to the guitar and Dan played the xylophone to Shake it Up Baby. He followed along with her and singing. One of the last interventions before saying goodbye was Stefani playing Don’t Stop Believing on piano and Dan singing along with her. Then they sang goodbye to each
