Masculinity is defined as “pertaining to or characteristic of a man or men; having qualities traditionally ascribed to men, as strength and boldness.” (www.dictionary.com) Masculinity reveals itself in many instances throughout the novel. The narrator attends the support group for men who have testicular cancer, Remaining Men Together. At this group, the narrator hears a man share how his ex-wife had a baby with her new husband because he himself couldn’t give her a child because of his testicular cancer; he breaks downs into tears which sadly in American society is a sign of weakness coming from a man.
