Obviously this song, like many today, is about sex, and today’s generation are growing up and being shaped by this explicit choice in music. Do you deem these lyrics acceptable for the ears of your twelve year old neighbour? Your eight year old cousin? Your five year old child? Didn’t think so. Music has changed drastically over the last 40 years and unfortunately, many new songs that hit today’s Top 100 contain lyrics like this, and it seems to only be getting worse.

The first twenty years of anybody’s life shape who they will become, and being negatively influenced by the constant use of drugs and alcohol by ‘role models’ will heavily incline their feelings towards the issues. There was an advertisement on the television a few years ago, that stated that a child with parents who smoked, were twice as likely to begin smoking themselves. ‘Role models’ have just as much an influence over people as their own parents have. Music has also reached an all time high in sexually explicit material, and again, young people are being told that ‘sex is ok’. Of course teenagers are going to go out and investigate, which leads to higher numbers of teen pregnancies. And whose fault is that? Music is becoming more synthesized and more and more artists are using synthesizers instead of mastering the talent of instruments. Synthesizers layer boise on top of blatant noise, whilst instruments create a story, and have a sense of depth. Autotune is also to blame for the loss of talent. Videos on Facebook demonstrate how easy it is to turn any sound into a catchy remix. If they can do this to an ear piercing scream, they can do this to anybody’s voice. Talent isn’t even needed anymore to create a song.
