Background/introduction: Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) are a threat to the United States and its imperative that United States government builds a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) response framework that is capable of protecting the American people from such a threat. WMDs are not easily recognizable and are created and dispersed in a multitude of ways and that is why a framework of response and prevention is absolute paramount. Description: A WMD attack is a very grave threat to the United States of America. WMDs pose such a grave threat to the United States because of how easily they are to proliferate and because they are not easily defended against. WMDs take on many forms, such as, Chemical, Biological, …show more content…
What are the different types of WMDs that are available to terrorists? My secondary questions include, how would a WMD attack effect America’s infrastructure and economy? What procedures or steps has the United States government taken to prevent a WMD attack from happening on the homeland, and are these steps enough? What is the largest weakness in WMD defense? How can the United States prevent or at the very least mitigate the likelihood of such an attack on our homeland? The thesis statement for this research will look something like this: “Weapons of Mass Destruction are a significant and viable threat to the United States of America and the government needs to create a strong and adaptive Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) response framework in order to try and prevent such an attack from …show more content…
The research should lead me to understand the steps that the United States has taken thus far for WMD response and prevention and should highlight the areas of concern. Researching this topic will take me to various federal agency websites, as well as, approved journals and articles on the deep web. Throughout the research paper I will utilize quotes from experts in the field WMD response and prevention, which will be used to identify the specific issues of the WMD threat and what should be done to mitigate the issues. The tools I plan on using most is the Google Scholar, Internet Public Library, and the U.S. Government Publishing Office (Current Government Information) because they have a variety of peer reviewed sources that will prove to be helpful. Moreover, the databases are extremely user-friendly and they complement each other well. Google Scholar will be used for broad search techniques and then I will narrow my searches with the use of the Internet Public Library, and the U.S. Government Publishing Office. I will be writing my paper is accordance with the APA style of writing. As I find my sources, I will be tracking them by creating an annotated bibliography. This will help for three reasons, first being it tracks each and every source in proper formatting, second reason is it will help with taking notes that are specific to that source,
