Over the past year people have been asking me what I am going to after graduate, and my answer without hesitation has been to pursue a masters degree. For me, a college education was continuously instilled into my everyday life; however, going to graduate school was a personal choice to further my career and educational goals. Through my perseverance of a master’s degree, I will be the first female in my family to not only to complete a master’s degree, but also to walk across the graduation stage of a four-year university. My education has always been a top priority, but school has always come fairly effortlessly for me. When beginning my undergraduate studies, I wanted to pursue a degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Public Relations. This interested me after completely a summer internship at a marketing firm, which concentrated in social media management and product appearance. After a year of taking courses related to this field of study, I was not challenged and was extremely unengaged in the material, leading me to reevaluate my career goals what exactly I aspired to do and interested me. From that summer internship, I realized that it was not the public relations side of the occupation that I was enthralled by, but instead it was the statistical and analytical work that intrigued me. However with Economics being such a broad field of study, I have struggled to find exactly what in the field appeals to me the greatest.
