I gazed involuntarily at Mattie. She had a palm pressed to her forehead and I could tell something was up. “You okay?” I questioned softly as she stared down at her phone. “Yeah, I’m okay…but this girl Kate,” Mattie held her phone up, “I used to go to school with her and she just invited me to her party.” “You say that like getting invited to a party is a bad thing.” She cracked a smile, “It’s just… Kate and her group of friends are really, intense.” “No chill?” I asked. “Yeah,” Mattie confirmed, “zero chill.
