Reading Alejandra Mattoni's story was extremely frustrating. She was sure she wanted her tubes tied, yet doctors didn’t take her seriously for 13 years. We have talked about fertility in the context of other topics such as marriage and intersex and transgender individuals, and there seems to be an obsession with fertility and concern with people's desire to have children. Why are we so obsessed with fertility and more specifically, with women's fertility?
