After five years of working as a Career Consultant and two years as a Visiting Professor for Career Development at DeVry University, I want to return to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and undertake postgraduate studies. I received my Master of Business Administration from DeVry University in 2009. My educational and work experience encompasses a variety of professional skills ranging from leadership to career consulting, which will be beneficial for the pursuit of my Doctorate in Business Administration.

This request from higher management has been consistent throughout my career and as a result, has sparked a strong interest and calling to continue my journey towards an executive management role. Also, I have always been interested in being a part of the decision-making process when it comes to business operations and how to ensure that the business remains profitable throughout difficult situations that may arise. Even in my personal life, others would look to me for advice and guidance, not to mention that I have a strong desire to use my abilities to help others succeed in whatever they set out to do in their careers. I began my career at DeVry University as a Career Advisor and later promoted to my current position as an Associate Director of Career Services. My positions in Career Services requires research on the hidden job market and employment trends in order to effectively advise our students and alumni for success in the working world. Having done the research on the hidden job market and employment trends, it is clear that in order to continue to be successful, one would need to continuously reinvent him or herself and be open to change with company trends and the world. Throughout my tenure at DeVry University, I have seen a variety of changes which had an impact on my role in where I had to constantly adapt to these changes in order to stay relevant. It is important to note that in today’s job market, candidates should be able to adapt to change as companies will experience constant changes in order to compete in the working world. My experience at DeVry provided an opportunity to do something I had never done before which was to teach Career Development online and on campus. This experience provided a platform to expand on my experience and once again, provide leadership and guidance in the classroom.
