McCain Foods is a Canadian owned company that was created back in 1957 in Florenceville. The company was named and created after the McCain brothers, Wallace, Robert, and Andrew McCain, who opened up the first production facility in Florenceville. Now, the company provides its products worldwide to buyers and customers, with global sales of $9 billion dollars of Canadian Currency and employing over 20,000 people. McCain gives to fast food franchises and operates 53 sites across six continents, while producing 6.5 million tonnes of potatoes every year. However, they do use plastic for their packaging which can’t be reused or recycle, which can result in lots of waste production per year. On the contrary, McCain has started to use an integrity seal, which is a retro fit system used on vertical form fill seals and horizontal flow wrap machines. Using the Integrity seal can save manufacturers thousands of tonnes of film per year, which would end up going in the garbage after using the product.
