A deadly seemingly contagious illness, caused by the dog meat they ate, spreads across McCrudo infecting a few of the crew members, as well as Ricky. After the death of the first crew member infected with the disease, the uninfected fear it’s the same virus wiping out the earth. They force all the infected into quarantine, and even threaten to kill them to prevent spreading. Ricky with the help of Brian has to cure the virus and prove that it can be treated.
After a blizzard shuts down McCrudo’s electricity, along with its vital heating system. Ricky assembles a team to inspect the diesel generators in search of the problem. What they find is indeed damage inflicted on the generator, but it’s not from the blizzard but rather by a human. The questions of who are they and where are they, and what do they want all illuminates their new reality: that they are not alone anymore.

With McCrudo now crippled and vulnerable against the Antarctic’s harsh elements, Ricky and his crew have to decide to either try and repair the damage done before the next forecasted storm hits - in a days time.
