The movie Mean Girls was written by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters. The plot is very realistic to which most people can relate to it at some point or another throughout their live. It also hits on a few of the psychological development concepts throughout adolescences. The Mean Girls main character is Cady Heron. She is a sixteen year old who has been home schooled by her mom in Africa her whole life but when they moved back to America her parents thought she needed to start going to a public high school. Cady knew nothing about high school but she immediately became friends with Janis, and Damien. As they were telling her about the different groups of people, they warned her about The Plastics and told her to keep her distance but she quickly became involved with them and that's where it all started. One of them being during the talent show when Damien was singing "Beautiful" and everyone starts booing and throwing things at him. Chances are that this started with just one person and then other people followed along so they would not be left out and feel like people where judging them for not doing what everyone else was doing. Peer pressure is a huge thing in high school and has a lot to do with the choices that are made. An example of all the different types of cliques are when Janis and Damien are showing Cady a map of all the cliques and where they sit in the lunch room. There are cliques like the freshman, preps, JV jocks, cool Asians, burnouts, wannabes, The Plastics, and so many more. Cliques are in high schools just like Cady's across the nation. Some may not have as many and some high schools may have more, depending on the size of the school.
