Bias is when the reporter of a story unknowingly or purposely puts their own emotions into a story, consequently making the story one-sided. In such case, it's nearly impossible for the viewer to actually know the story in it's clearest form. Worst of all the viewer is deprived of the opportunity to associate his or her own opinion on the matter at hand because the viewer has only learnt of a one-sided viewpoint expressed by a particular news outlet. Goldberg joined CBS News in 1972 and retired 28 years later, in 2000. Goldberg describes the distortion in present day due to no diversity of opinion in the newsroom, so no matter how many news executives go on about diversity, about ethnic, and racial diversity and how much they say we need that to go out the full story about things, they don’t seem to care much about intellectual diversity or diversity of opinions. For years we have bared witness to the misrepresentation and complete exclusion of people of color from television and film. Black people in media are often reduced to either stereotypical roles, insignificant sub-characters, or are just left out altogether. With white studio heads running Hollywood, the entertainment industry has been suffering from collective amnesia for over 60 years with its constant need to erase and discredit black faces. Not only are people of color not fairly represented in Hollywood, but they are often times not rewarded for the work that they actually do in television and film. At last year’s Emmy Awards ceremony, actress Viola Davis became the first black actress to receive the award for best actress in a drama series in the entire history of the awards ceremony.
Murrow Political Bias in media is one of the most rampant examples of bias in terms of its influence on mindsets of people. The statement above by Edward R. Murrow makes total sense in today’s world. Political Bias is at its peak during elections. Public has to vote for candidates and much information about the candidates comes from media. Media, during these times, takes this advantage.
In America, Media bias is everywhere, in the United States all the information that an average American received through everyday sources, the news was most likely processed through the media and told through a biased point of view, when the media gets their hands on news if it is important then it probably won’t be talked about or downplayed no matter the source like in the newspaper, radio, television, movies, as well as other outlets that the media uses, the media only seems to share the news that they find interesting, even then the media would most likely have changed the story, in what they say is just tweaked news, what actually happened and what really happened would be two different stories, also the story would be told from one person
Extremely biased articles are quite funny; their information is so unrealistic it almost feels like a satire. These are the easiest to identify; well I did think that until I learned about the Stanford research study. Social media sites like Facebook have been known to have hundreds of false articles that people believe due to the credibility Facebook has. In articles like Natural News’ “Active Shooter at YouTube Headquarters in California… Multiple Casualties… Deranged GIRLFRIEND on Rampage”, the bias can be automatically seen in the title. The author Mike Adams has a clear agenda; his connotative and extreme language “deranged girlfriend” is a one sided opinion.
In the last few chapters we reviewed the importance of advertising, media industry, media bias, and the power of photography. Advertising in media is very important because it allows a product to get publicity. Without advertisement, a product would not be as popular to a consumer. Companies have used advertisement to let a large number of people know about their products. Social networks gather a lot of user information, social media advertising is able to get the attention of audiences in a wider variety of ways than other than using online sources.

Americans experience some sort of bias every day, however, media bias is likely the most prevalent. Media can be biased towards liberals, conservatives, or any other political leaning. According to University of Oklahoma Professor, Keith Gaddie, the mainstream media mostly suffers from liberal bias - which is usually hostile toward conservative candidates and causes. Media bias can misinform, exaggerate truths, and cause confusion during voting season.
