Medical devices and equipment are for not only the use of doctors, physicians, professional caregivers, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, and home care aides. However, many devices are prescribed to people that are discharged patients, and customers. In addition, a person may receive a doctor’s referral or a different source such as home care organizations, home health agencies, hospices, and staffing companies specializing in medical equipment and supplies, even independent providers. Medical Equipment and Device Regulations: The Chinese Central Government recently adopted material amendments to the Regulation on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices, which will bring significant changes for medical device companies operating in China. The updated supervision and Administration of a Medical Device has been approved by China’s State Council on February 12, 2014 and has been effective since June 1, 2014. According to the new regulations, medical devices are still managed and supervised under a Class I, Class II and Class III system based on the risk to the users, manufacturers need to submit the medical device registration certificate when they are applying for the manufacturer license.
