Many examples of new religious expressions and spiritualties appeal directly to the need for personal fulfilment. In fact they have this as their ultimate goal. This personal fulfilment is offered in a number of different ways; from being successful in a career and having considerable personal wealth and resources, to being happy in relationships, as well as being physically and emotionally well. People seek personal fulfilment in all aspects of their lives. Many wish to seek improvement of their bodies and minds through practising forms of spirituality that are not a part of their own religious traditions, for example, Westerners practising yoga or tai chi. People seek new ways of healing (for example, acupuncture) and find practices in new religious expressions that heal emotional distress and bring about peace for example, meditation. This involves deliberately holding your attention on a subject, object or process. It may also involve clearing the mind.
