The Trial of Meghan Shepherd The long-awaited jury trial of 65 year old Meghan Shepherd, began today in a well appointed courtroom with the Hon. Judge Hendrix, presiding. The events surrounding this trial have been a front-runner in social media because of the extraordinary circumstances which make up this shocking story. Meghan Shepherd, a grandmother of sixteen, a pillar of the community since her marriage to the late Reverend George Shepherd, now stands accused of murder in the second degree. The trial is closed to the public, but the press were admitted to view and report on the proceedings. Today, the mental condition of the man who had invaded the home of Mrs. Shepherd was placed into evidence. In addition, the life of Mrs. Shepherd leading up to the night of the events which lead to this trial was discussed. Character witnesses on behalf of the defendant testified. Finally, the events of November 19, 2016 were entered into evidence and the defendant testified in her own defense. The decedent, 19 year old Joseph Clark, was a resident of Brynn Marr Mental Hospital. He suffered from schizophrenia and was delusional. Mrs. Shepherd, wearing a somber grey pant suit, took the stand and was sworn in. She clutched her cross pendant she wore around her neck as she began speaking. She stated that she went to bed, as is her custom, at 9:00 PM and immediately fell asleep. Then at around 11:00 PM something startled her awake.
