At the beginning of the movie Memo was interested to know what happen on the other side of the border. He wanted to know how people live and know about “trunode” company. For him it was fascinating how the “trunode” company works. One example that shows this interest about knowing how the people from the other side live is when the brother of Memo says, “cuando vas a dejar de hacer como si estuvieras en otra parte?” (Sleep Dealer Movie). Moreover, before the wall Memo’s father was like the king of the town, he own part of the land in Santa Ana, Mexico, where he could farm all his crops. The father even had people that worked with him in his own land. Everyday, the father, have to go to the other side of the wall to collect water for his crops and his family. In the movie the father of Memo shows how important customs are to them. Everyday the father of Memo went to get water from the other side for his “milpa” which it was part of a custom because he 's been doing that at a young age and it is important for the father that his children, in this case Memo and his brother, learn how to take care of “la milpa” the way Memo’s father takes care of his crops. Also, beliefs play a big role in this movie because we see that when Memo moves to Tijuana “the city of the future” he carry his beliefs of having a better future than his father and also his believes about “Trunode” company. Values are also an important role in this movie because even though Memo’s father was death and he did not live in Santa Ana; Memo always remember the place where he was born and the places that he went with his dad. Moreover, he remember his dad’s words about the future, also Memo remember how important “la milpa” was for his father. That are the values that Memo carried every day with
