Poets use the art of words to convey the emotions they want to express. When a poet creates sentences using metaphors and other techniques, they can be used to be interpreted anyway that you would like. A lot of people use poetry as an outlet to express what they may not be able to express otherwise. It is an easy way to get feelings across and a lot of people can view it as many different things. With the strong negativity people are facing in this society, poems are a way to get your feelings across and understand how others are feeling as well. Occasionally you can forget that, in an instant, an event can change.You can do an everyday task as you do, and time can go on. Time goes on as it always does and you do the things you do everyday. However, a sudden change of events can twist all of that out of proportion. Whatever you say to a person, the time you choose to do something, or something you make can all have an effect on your world. Otherwise, by Jane Kenyon can describe a scenario such as this in her poem. “I slept in a bed in a room with paintings on the walls, and planned another day just like this day. Be Drunk, by Charles Baudelaire suggests being lost within something that rids of such things as the concept of time, hours, minutes, days, weeks, ages. No matter what it is that you invest your mind into, it can be used to keep out of thinking too much. If you have nothing keeping your mind distracted, it can feel like a “bad trip” where time is dragging on and you can feel every moment. Conforming to the poem that was written by Baudelaire, “You have to be always drunk. That’s all there is to it—it’s the only way. So as not to feel the horrible burden of time that breaks your back and bends you to the earth, you have to be continually drunk.” This suggests that a preoccupation of some sort should come into play so that you are not thinking of the empty space you come
