Why is pure glee called 'childlike bliss'? What is so childlike about being, in simple words, happy? Well, when one is a child they carry something very magical with them. No, it is not a wand or some type of spell, it is ignorance. When a child is still discovering new things or trying to figure out how to adapt to what they already know, they have an adventure every day. But sadly at some point that stops, they know what they are supposed to do and how they are expected to act. And like a thief in the night, the ignorance is snatched away and they finally see what they had been protected from. As you’ve probably already experienced, “When you’re a kid, everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day.” The metaphor dawn is used to describe many things. In this case dawn is used to describe innocence. "When you're a kid, everything's new, dawn. It's just when you get used to everything that it's day." If you are a child, with a normal upbringing, then you are innocent to almost all. You are able to find the good and pure in even the worst of situations. But after a while your innocence fades. Most of the characters in the story didn't get a dawn in life. It honestly seemed as though the main reason they were brought into this world was to be segregated and ridiculed. But that was not the case. A perfect example of this quote is PonyBoy Curtis. PonyBoy was born into a nuclear family with two loving older brothers and two affectionate parents. That was his dawn. But the day his parents died his ‘day’ approached. From that moment on Pony was never the same. Because one you experience day and all the hard times and challenges there are even if your ‘dawn’ comes again you will never forget your ‘day’.
