1 Metropolitan State University is where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and where I plan to continue my education in the Doctor of Business Administration program. The thought of “returning home” to bring my educational journey full circle brings joy to my heart. Every time I read the Program Overview or Curriculum for the Doctor of Business Administration program I get excited, my heart starts to race, and my mind goes off to a future classroom where I will be soaking up the knowledge of professors and mentors. When I think about teaching and writing research papers I get all giddy and a huge smile comes to my face. After being out of school for more than eight years, I started to study for the Certified Public Accountant exams. They proved to be a test of discipline, focus, and drive. I decided on a study program that relayed the information on multiple platforms with an entertaining instructor to keep my attention. I passed two exams on the first take, another one I had to take twice, and the last I had to take three times to get a passing score. This experience showed me the level of drive and determination I had to reach my goal of becoming an accounting professor. Being a professor means not only educating the students but truly connecting with them. Students become more engaged in learning when they have that additional connection with their teacher. Their accountability levels climb in a caring learning environment. I plan to get my Doctorate in Business Administration to be a professor that connects with the students on multiple levels. By making accounting easier to understand, and dare I say even fun, the students will be able to grasp it better and apply it in the real
