In my opinion, York included the statement above because of the argument presented by Gerson. As we read in the article, Mr. Gerson’s argues that the Arizona immigration law might put citizens in a precarious situation when an officer elects to exercise the right to search for documents to validate legal residency. In addition, the author is just trying to erase any doubt on the readers mind regarding the whole situation of this being an
In the article, Matthew Day summarizes the event of Polish women going on strike to protest a proposed abortion ban. Essentially abortion would be forbid in Polish in all cases, except if the life of the mother is threatened. According to Day, the past law used to allow abortion in the cases of rape and incest, but the new proposed one would completely ban it even for women under this circumstances. As stated by Day, on the day of the protest named “Black Monday” tens of thousands of Polish women dressed in black missed work to protest against the new proposed law that would totally ban abortions. The new legislation would impose woman who undergoes the procedure imprisoned and the doctors that performs the procedure would be criminalized.
Summary While anti-abortion legislatures have been passing ‘Women’s Right to Know’ policies for over two decades, a more recent trend has been to add a mandatory viewing of an ultrasound to the state-mandated informed consent procedure. Whereas abortion advocates argue that these laws are unethical and may cause psychological harm to a woman seeking an abortion, the anti-abortion activists stand behind these policies saying that viewing an ultrasound promotes a bond between mother and child and helps the woman to make a more informed decision. Evidence demonstrates that ultrasound viewing does not deter a woman from having an abortion, but may illicit a range of emotional responses, including some negative feelings.
Kadyn King Professor Cavallo Texas Government 2306 31 March 2016 It is often expressed that certain topics are not to be made public, but to be kept private. One thing that you don’t hear many people talk about casually is abortion, especially in Texas. Abortion is a very serious topic that many people do not take lightly and feel very strongly about. There are two popular sides one being pro-life and the other being pro-choice. When looking at the two sides and trying to classify them on political sides any would agree that based on voting republican would be pro-life, while democrat would be classified as pro- choice.
Before writing this essay I thought long and hard on what topic I would choose. I wanted it to be something very interesting to me and something I had knowledge about already. After reading the article “Three Legal Reasons Abortion Should Be Banned” by Kristi Burton Brown, I knew exactly what I wanted to write and what my argument would be. While writing this essay I think I had a growth mindset. Although I already had knowledge on abortions reading this article made me realize why abortions most definitely be banned.
Oklahoma lawmakers have passed a bill that would make performing an abortion a felony punishable by revocation of medical license, and three years in prison. The legislation makes no exception to restriction on abortion apart from cases where mother 's life is endangered. The bill was passed 33-12 in the senate, while last month it was approved 59-9 by House of Representatives.
● According to RRA’s argument, the new statute does not have an exception to allow abortions in cases of rape or incest after the point of fetus viability. But under Casey, a state may prohibit abortion after viability even if the pregnancy was the result of rape and before viability, a state may not place a “substantial obstacle” (impose an undue burden) on obtaining abortion. It is true that the new statute violates the U.S Constitution, by not allowing abortions after the fetus viability. The U.S Supreme Court held that, even after the fetus viability, the states cannot prohibit abortions, necessary to preserve the health or life of the woman. The chances of winning the argument are low for RRA in this point because the U.S constitution has not provided specific requirements in cases of rape, but it is mainly concerned with the maternal health.
Abortion opponents want this bill passed because it would reduce the amount of abortions being performed in the country. Planned parenthood serves mainly lower income women, and if Planned Parenthood could not perform abortions for a year, few lower income women could get abortions. Some could get abortions by paying more for them, but not all. The reason abortion opponents are pushing for this is recent reports that Planned Parenthood has been selling fetal tissue for research. This has not been proven.
Abortion refers to the termination of a pregnancy by removing or taking out the fetus or embryo from the uterus prematurely or before it is ready for birth. There are two major forms of abortion: spontaneous, which is often referred to as a miscarriage and as the name suggests is unintentional or the purposeful abortion, which is most often abortion induced by medication or other such ways. The term abortion is commonly used to refer to the induced abortion, and this is the particular abortion, which has been filled with controversy. In developed nations, induced abortions are the most dependable and trustworthy form of medical procedures in medicine if it is performed under the auspices of the local law. Thus, abortions are possibly the most
