In this article, Michael Dobie states his concerns with Rio de Janeiro hosting the 2016 Summer Olympics, as he believes that Rio has a lack of funds and unsafe conditions for not only the athletes, but for those who travel to watch the games live. For example, Brazil is currently in the middle of a huge Zika outbreak, causing some of the athletes originally planning to perform in the games to not attend. Also, many of the roads in Brazil have potholes and cracks and some have even collapsed, making it extremely unsafe for people to travel on.
